I've Been In Business Write-off on filing my taxes personally. How close to the tip of the group on my statement?

I am a writer who has presented cases reductions in value on my personal income tax for 5 years by law. I have not made a profit in those years. I was informed by my accountant that tax regulations do not encourage me to continue to file cases out, because I did not make a profit so it should quit the business of writing. How do I deposit my taxes now? Should I just ignore these last years to write off that thought has never been accepted?

  1. Depending on the type of activities that describe the writing, I would say that if you do not have a profit of 3 years or more, probably lacks the will to profit. Therefore, it can be thought of as a hobby. Hobby is taxable income. The loss of a hobby, they are not. So what you can do is show his income from writing on your C program and deduct all the expenses that you have won, but not higher than the total income. This "zero out" that the income, but nothing more. Certainly you want to leave not only the average off a return, because they are illegal and cause problems on the road.
If at some point you have a profitable year (eg, to sell your first manuscript, large), then you can use all the "saved" for years that further losses could keep them and use them against profits in the current a great year.
If you have no income to write more, simply drag and Annex C does not. You have to go back and correct prior years unless you knew that there was no benefit at the time, either.

  2. As another poster said, if you have income from writing, to be reported, regardless of your write off. Even if the income report has just entered this year without deduction of costs, there is a pretty good chance you will be checked for any previous years. You will need to demonstrate that it has the advantage of driving commercial vehicles. Honestly, I think you'll have a very difficult time showing that the writing was a real company and not a hobby, but that discussion is best left to you and your accountant.
